Navantia UK has unveiled a new autonomous warship concept designed for future naval operations, amid growing interest among Western navies in uncrewed vessels and systems controlled by artificial intelligence.
According to a report by UK Defence Journal, the LASV75 concept relies on high levels of automation to reduce the need for human crew, extend operational endurance at sea and lower operating costs. The proposal also follows a growing trend toward “hybrid fleets,” combining crewed ships and autonomous systems in combat, surveillance and anti-submarine warfare missions.
“At Navantia UK, we are investing heavily in our four shipyards to transform them into ideal partners to deliver this vision of the future. With digital design capabilities and cutting-edge automated technology, our sites are being transformed into some of the most advanced shipyards in Europe,” said Derek Jones, Director of Business Development and Commercial at Navantia UK.

Although few technical details have been disclosed, Navantia has been investing in naval digitalization technologies, industrial automation and the integration of autonomous systems in both Spain and the United Kingdom.
The announcement comes at a time of major transformation in British naval strategy. The Royal Navy has been accelerating programs linked to uncrewed systems, including autonomous mine-hunting vessels, shipborne drones and automated underwater networks.
